Janet Cord is a Partner of Ladas & Parry LLP. Mrs. Cord has wide-ranging
experience in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and non-US patent
applications in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, biochemistry,
chemistry and medical devices. She has drafted and negotiated global license
agreements and material transfer agreements with a focus on
health care. Mrs. Cord carries out due diligence and review of documents
including prospectuses for the raising of capital.
Mrs. Cord also advises clients on issues relating to marketing of products including clinical testing and marketing of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology products, medical devices and medical test kits in the U.S. and abroad.
Mrs. Cord has prepared numerous patent validity, infringement and freedom-to-use opinions with a particular emphasis in the pharmaceutical field. She has litigated patent infringement and trade secret cases and has been the lead attorney in a number of patent interferences. She has argued appeals before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences.
In addition, Mrs. Cord has published papers in journals such as Patent World and CIPA and has presented papers at a number of conferences including the annual meeting of the American Bar Association. Mrs. Cord is a former vice-chair of the Harmonization Committee of the Intellectual Property Owners Association and Treasurer of the New York Women’s Bar Association. She is chair of the Finance Committee of the Woman's Bar Association of the State of New York.
Mrs. Cord has been nominated to receive the 2009 Women of Power & Influence Award from the New York City chapter of the National Organization of Women.
