In Memoriam: John McKie

John was born in Washington, D.C. on December 28, 1956, graduated from the University of Notre Dame and the George Washington University Law School and worked with the U.S. International Trade Commission, before joining the firm in 1995. John married Mary Pat, his wife of 30 years, in 1983, and was the loving father of two daughters, Maggie and Liz McKie.

In addition to his professional work in the firm’s Chicago Office, John was a member of the Chicago Bar Association and a proud Norte Dame Alumnus.

John much enjoyed the Animal-Assisted Therapy Program at Edward Hospital while battling cancer.

John demonstrated the true fight of a persisting spirit with everlasting determination to fight his disease to the end, even continuing to show up at the office to serve the firm’s clients. He was truly a gifted colleague who gave his full measure into whatever he tackled, which is a fitting description given that he was a lineman and true picture of health earlier in life. As a partner he was a great friend and devoted colleague. Our only compliant is that he was with us too short a time. All who were fortunate enough to have known John McKie will miss him deeply.
