Ladas & Parry LLP Announces New Additions to Firm Partnership

Ladas & Parry LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Brian W. Hameder, W. William (Bill) Park and Robert Popa, to the firm’s partnership.

  • Brian W. Hameder joined the Chicago office of Ladas & Parry in March 2001 and focuses his practice of Intellectual Property law on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications covering a wide range of mechanical and electrical arts. He also has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting design applications throughout the world, and advises clients on issues relating to patent infringement, validity and enforcement. Prior to joining the firm, Brian worked as an intern and engineer at an energy consultant and design engineering firm. While in law school he was a registered patent agent and interned at a law office. Brian has prosecuted patent applications relating to medical devices, household consumer products, building construction, automotive and industrial components, plumbing fixtures, etc. Brian's practice/technology area includes the mechanical and electromechanical arts.
  • W. William Park joined the Chicago office of Ladas & Parry in June 2002 and is a registered patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the Illinois and Colorado State Bars. His technical specialty is in the areas of semiconductor memory, LCD display, computer hardware and software, digital and microprocessor electronics, optical and hard drive memory devices, robotics, industrial automation, machine controls, as well as telecommunications. Prior to joining Ladas & Parry, Mr. Park worked as an electrical engineer for major U.S. corporations for over nine years designing electrical/electronic systems and writing software for robotics and various machine control applications. Mr. Park has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in semiconductor memory, LCD display, cellular telecommunications, digital television, computer hard disc drive, Internet web browser, among others. Mr. Park also provides noninfringement opinions or invalidity opinions on existing patents. Mr. Park is a member of AIPLA, ABA, and IPLAC. Mr. Park, born in Korea and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of thirteen, is fluent in Korean and regularly travels to Asia and other continents to meet with the firm's overseas clients.
  • Robert Popa joined the Los Angeles office of Ladas & Parry in May 2003 and is a member of the California State Bar. He is a registered patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and received both his B.S. and Master’s Degrees in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute and his law degree from Southwestern University. Prior to joining Ladas & Parry, Mr. Popa was an associate at Irell & Manella and also at Fulwider Patton. He has over ten years of experience prosecuting and writing patent applications in the U.S. and internationally, working with clients in strategizing, handling, and developing their patent portfolios, rendering opinions, conducting complex due diligence investigations, and litigating patent infringement actions. Mr. Popa’s technical expertise ranges from inventions having bases in physics and mechanics to electronics and computers/mathematics. Representative technologies in which Mr. Popa has written and prosecuted patent applications include GPS, telecommunications, optics, semiconductor manufacturing, and surgical devices.
