Dominican Republic: Joins PCT

The Dominican Republic became the 137th contracting state of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) by depositing its instrument of accession with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on February 28, 2007. The Patent Cooperation Treaty will enter into force for the Dominican Republic three months later on May 28, 2007.

It should be noted that the Dominican Republic can only be designated in new PCT International Patent Applications filed on or after May 28, 2007. Also, as of that date, nationals and residents of the Dominican Republic will themselves be able to file PCT applications designating the 137 members of the PCT.
