Bahrain: Joins PCT

Bahrain became the 136th contracting state of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) by depositing its instrument of accession at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on December 18, 2006. The Patent Cooperation Treaty will enter into force for Bahrain three months later on March 18, 2007.

It should be noted that Bahrain can only be designated in new PCT International Patent Applications filed on or after March 18, 2007. Also, as of that date, nationals and residents of Bahrain will themselves be able to file PCT applications designating the 136 members of the PCT.
