Bahrain - Adopts 8th Edition of International Classification

On December 25, 2004, the Industrial Property Office at the Ministry of Commerce in the Kingdom of Bahrain announced its adoption of the Eighth Edition of the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks under the Nice Agreement, concluded on June 15, 1957.

Currently, the Industrial Property Office is prepared to receive trademark applications for the following services in Classes 43, 44 and 45:

• Class 43: services for providing food and drink; temporary accommodation.

• Class 44: medical services; veterinary services; hygienic and beauty care for human beings or animals; agriculture, horticulture, and forestry services.

• Class 45: personal and social services rendered by others to meet the needs of individuals; security services for the protection of property and individuals.

While the Office will receive applications for the aforementioned services, the applications will not be published in the Official Gazette until the new trademark law and its implementing regulations are in place.
