Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) - Membership

The following countries have become members of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), as of the following dates:

Country	Effective Date
Botswana	October 30, 2003
Egypt	September 6, 2003
Namibia	January 1, 2004
Nicaragua	March 6, 2003
Papua New Guinea	June 14, 2003
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines	August 6, 2002
Seychelles	November 7, 2002
Syria	June 26, 2003

Since Botswana is also a member of the African Regional Industrial Property Organization (ARIPO) and is the only current member of ARIPO that is not a member of the PCT, PCT applications designating ARIPO whose international filing date is on or after October 30, 2003 will henceforth be able to cover all ARIPO member countries.
