The Israeli Patent Office has issued guidelines to deal with the problem that may arise when a novel ornamental feature is applied to a number of different versions of the same basic article, for example, when a particular ornamentation is applied to various telephone handsets. Under the guidelines, it will be possible to submit photographs or drawings of the application of the ornamentation to only a single version of the handset and to include a statement of novelty, making it clear that the design protection should extend to other variants of the basic article to which that particular ornamentation has been applied.
