The European Patent Office re-launched its electronic filing program on July 1, 2002. Such filing requires submission of the description, claims, abstract and drawings in PDF format, although copies of the documents in one of several other conventional word processing formats may be included in an appendix. If there are errors in the PDF format and an acceptable appendix is submitted, it will be possible to correct the PDF version on the basis of the appendix.
