In our December 1997 Newsletter (N.S. 189), we reported that the new Trademarks Ordinance, which, inter alia, allows for the registration of service marks, was scheduled to go into effect on July 1, 1998; however, the new law did not become effective on that date. The most recent information received indicated that there is now doubt as to whether the new law will go into effect in the year 2000.
