European Patent Office (EPO)EPO - Fee Changes

From March 2, 1999, fees for matters connected with the European Patent Office have been fixed in Euro. However, since many fees can be paid in the currency of any of the member states, the EPO periodically issues official lists of the fees payable in each of these currencies at the current rate of exchange.

For applications filed after July 1, 1999, designation fees are payable only on the first seven countries designated. In the case of applications arising out of the PCT, the relevant date as to whether the new provision applies is the date of filing the international application. The search fee for such applications has also been reduced.
