Kyrgyzstan - New Trademark Law We have been advised that a new Trademark Law has entered into
effect in Kyrgyzstan. The new law provides for a number of important
changes, including:
1. trademark registrations will be effective for a period of 10 years
from their application date and renewable for 10-year terms;
2. registered trademarks that have not been used for a period of 3 years following the registration date or for any 3-year period thereafter will be vulnerable to cancellation on the ground of non-use; 3. an opposition procedure has been introduced whereby opposition will be possible within a 5-year period following publication of the registration; and 4. the International Classification of Goods and Services was adopted and a single application may be filed in respect of multiple classes. |
