Jamaica - Reclassification of Trademarks Registered Prior to 1958

The Registrar is now in the process of reclassifying all trademarks registered prior to 1958 under the Old British Classification of Goods to conform to the International Classification. Notices of Conversion calling for such reclassification will not be sent to the agents of record but will be addressed directly to the owners of the trademark registrations. Although there are no deadlines for filing the applications for reclassification, we understand that they are expected to be filed promptly upon receipt of the Notices of Conversion. We are therefore suggesting that our clients forward these notices to us upon receipt, so that we may take the requisite action without delay.
