In our July 1997 Newsletter (N.S. 188), we reported that the Government of Peru was considering withdrawal from the Andean Pact. On June 24, 1997, a final agreement was reached to allow Peru to remain a member of the Andean Pact (now called Andean Community) following acceptance of several conditions requested by Peru.
