In our July 1997 Newsletter (N. S. 188), we noted that it would be necessary to file a search report with the Hong Kong authorities before a short term patent could be granted. It has now been announced that suitable search reports for this purpose will be those issued by any International Search Authority appointed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) or issued by the United Kingdom Patent Office.
