In our recent Newsletters (see, for example, our August 1996 Newsletter (N.S. 187)), we reported the execution of agreements between Taiwan and certain countries permitting priority claims to be made in Taiwan for intellectual property rights owned by nationals of such countries. A similar agreement has now come into effect with France enabling priority rights to be claimed for patents, designs and trademarks.
