On March 17, 1997, Sierra Leone deposited its instruments of accession to the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, to the Patent Cooperation Treaty and to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, all of which entered into effect, with respect to Sierra Leone, on June 17, 1997.
