Peru - Possible Withdrawal From Andean Pact

In April 1997, the President of Peru announced that Peru would withdraw from the Andean Pact, although the precise terms of such withdrawal, should it eventually come to pass, are still being considered. Should Peru withdraw from the Andean Pact, it is anticipated that several changes in intellectual property practice will occur, since the current intellectual property laws of Peru are governed by Andean Pact decisions. We shall continue to monitor developments and keep our clients advised.
