Bhutan - New Trademark Law

We have been advised that a new Trademark Law, providing for the registration of trademarks and service marks, has been enacted in Bhutan and entered into force on April 4, 1997. Prior to such enactment, there was no separate trademark legislation in Bhutan and limited protection was available through the publication of Cautionary Notices. We shall defer our comments on the provisions of the new law until we receive more information from our sources.
