France - Trademark Oppositions

In our Information Letters N.S. 182 and 185, we advised that an opposition procedure under the new French Trademark Law was introduced on a gradual basis, allowing oppositions against applications filed only in certain classes. Under a Ministerial Order published in the French Official Journal of December 14, 1995, opposition proceedings will be available against applications in all remaining International classes in accordance with the following schedule:

In classes
If applications filed on/or after:
1, 3, 5 and 10
January 1, 1996
35, 36, 37, 38, 39 and 40
July 1, 1996
9, 16, 41 and 42
December 28, 1996
