Eurasian Patent Convention In our June 1994 Newsletter we noted the agreement to create a Eurasian Patent Convention, the likely result of which would be to create a common patent office for most former USSR republics. The convention has now technically come into effect as a result of ratification or accession by Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
It appears, however, that operation of the common patent office envisaged by the convention has not yet commenced.
