Australia - New Trademarks Act

A new trademark law was introduced into the Australian Parliament earlier this year (1995) and was passed by the Senate at the end of September. The proposed law will now go to the House of Representatives and we have been advised that it is expected to enter into force on January 1, 1996. We are monitoring the situation closely and will report fully on the new law when it is enacted.

Editor's note: See our subsequent report in our August 1996 Newsletter.
