Turkey - Joins Paris Convention

Turkey adhered to Articles 1 through 12 of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property (Stockholm version) with effect from February 1, 1995. Turkey had previously adhered only to Articles 13 through 30 of the Stockholm version of the Convention. It is hoped that this development will enable the rightful owners of well-known marks and commercial names to prevent and take action against their unauthorized adoption in Turkey more easily than in the past. The change should also ameliorate the position of patent owners whose inventions have not been worked in Turkey.
