Jordan - Boycott of Israel

The peace treaty between Jordan and Israel provides for the removal of boycott restrictions which have prevented business from being conducted between these two countries. Although Jordan has not yet officially implemented this change in policy, we are informed that it is expected to be put into effect within the next few months.

We are monitoring the situation closely and shall keep our clients advised. In the meantime, however, we suggest that those clients whose assignments, mergers or changes of name could not be recorded in Jordan because of the boycott of Israel may now wish to consider undertaking such recordation when the provisions of the peace treaty are fully implemented by Jordan.

Editor's note: See our later report on this subject in our August 1996 Newsletter.
