The Law on Trademarks and Service Marks of December 23, 1991, entered into force on January 1, 1992. Although we have been unable to obtain the expected translation of this law, we shall provide our summary of its provisions as and when received.

Meanwhile, the Tajik authorities have confirmed, in a communication to WIPO, that former USSR and Russian trademark applications filed prior to August 16, 1993 and trademark registrations that are still in force may be revalidated before:


to have effect in Tajikistan.

In addition, holders of International Registrations which were extended to the former USSR or Russia on a date subsequent to December 25, 1991, but prior to February 14, 1994, may request before:


that the Tajikistan Patent Office process the extension as a national application in Tajikistan.
