We understand that on March 3, 1994 the Portuguese Parliament approved the New Industrial Property Code, which is intended to bring its law into compliance with Portugal's obligations under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, the European Patent Convention and the European Community Trademark Harmonization Directive. The new code will enter into effect 90 days after it is published in the Official Gazette. We shall provide our summary and analysis of the law once it is published.
